One of the wonderful challenges of yoga practice is how to integrate it with the rest of our lives—how do we make our entire life into a yoga practice, so we can grow in self-awareness and fulfilment? This 3-day workshop with Carlos Pomeda explores the inner dynamics of the journey and provides helpful, practical guidance to do just that.

Yoga History Overview (3 hours)

Friday 20 May, 9:00–12:00
Dive into the secret wisdom of the ancient yoga texts. This seminar will lead us through the tantalizing history of yoga, exploring its development and the subtleties we can learn and apply to our practice. Take this opportunity to answer your questions about the origin and development of yoga, its main schools and teachings, its approaches and the way they inform our current practice.

Tantra-vata-dhanika: The Tree of Tantra (6 hours)

Friday 20 May, 14:00–17:00
Saturday 21 May, 08:30–11:30

What better way to learn about Tantra than to receive it from the ancient masters? For that reason, this Introduction to Tantric Yoga is based on a little known work by the great 11th c. Tantric master, Abhinavagupta. Translated into English for the first time, his “Seed of the Tree of Tantra” (Tantravatadhanika) gives us the perfect platform to learn about Tantra and its practices in an authoritative, yet inspiring and practical way.

What is most unique about Tantra and tantric yoga philosophy? Quite simply, the fact that its teachings and practices are best suited for contemporary life. Departing from earlier notions of asceticism and dry scholarship, Tantra presents a sublimely inspiring view of the world and of human existence, one that incorporates all aspects of human existence: the heart, the intellect, the body and the environment.

The World in the Mind: The Tantric Yoga of the Tripura Rahasya (9 hours)

Saturday May 21, 13:30–16:30
Sunday May 22, 9:00–12:00 & 14:00–17:00

“The whole world is manifested in Consciousness, like a city in a mirror…That Consciousness is absolute… [But] as long as the mind is not turned inward, so long the Self cannot be realized.”

The essential teaching of all yoga is that a great treasure lies within every human being, but the key to finding it is the mind. Our mind contains not only the key to the ultimate experience of meditation, but indeed to our whole life—it is the very place where we experience every moment of our lives. Therefore, it is particularly important not only to understand it and how it shapes our experience of being alive, but specially, how to make it into an instrument of insight and fulfillment at all levels of our life.

This workshop will be based on a profound and insightful scripture of the yoga tradition, the Tripura Rahasya. This text forms a beautiful bridge between Advaita Vedanta and Tantra, which makes it tremendously relevant in contemporary life.

Most importantly, the Tripura Rahasya offers what is perhaps the deepest and most transformative method of meditation found anywhere. It is this method that will become the underpinning of the entire workshop, which will be taught in an interactive and approachable style.

These seminars combine a dynamic and insightful presentation of the material with the opportunity to experience directly some fo the most powerful practices of the yoga tradition, in a pleasant interactive format.
