Authentic Embodiment for Yoga Teachers | Deeper Still
8-10 February 2019
This three Day workshop for teachers invites participants to explore a way of working that underpins all practices and provides a springboard for teaching.
We will learn how to feel more deeply into the body-mind and how to work with the spontaneous action that arises from deeply within. Each individual will have the opportunity to experience the ‘field’ that awakens at this depth and from which a profound communication and reception takes place.
We will observe how the physiological, psychological and emotional aspects of our being have the potential to unfold as a unified expression, in time with time,’ as our conditioning, including the conditioning installed by conventional methods, falls away.
We will acknowledge, through practice and discussion, that the primal activity lying beneath the surface of our awareness can only be discovered by each one of us in our own way. We will engage with the language that emerges and presents itself to the group, forming the basis for teaching depth-work.
Yoga practitioner John Stirk has been teaching Yoga and body-mind movement for over 40 years. His work aims to deepen, open and broaden the Yoga experience by inviting students to sink beneath existing knowledge and practical application and draw out for themselves their deeper practitioner.
John’s interest in the impediments to understanding, compassion and freedom from the self, informs his posture based work which attends to the physical while simultaneously questioning the nature of conditioning, habit and fear in their various guises.
Participants are invited to open up ways of being that include clarity, relaxed sensitivity, and a deep, flowing awareness of how they are on all levels.
His work has been influenced by R.D.Laing, with whom he ran body/mind workshops, Classical Osteopathy, B.K.S. Lyengar, Vanda Scaravelli with whom he had personal tuition for several years and the work of J. Krishnamurti.
He runs classes, workshops and residentials for yoga students and teachers throughout the UK and internationally.
